How to score Canasta: a practical score sheet guide

Learn how to keep Canasta scores with running totals, dealer rotation, and a clear target — on paper or with Canaster.

Canasta is easiest when one person keeps a clean score sheet. Write two columns (side A and side B), add each round under the previous total, and circle the dealer initial.

Agree the target before you start (often 5000 or 10000). When one side reaches or passes the target with a higher total, that game ends.

Canaster does the same digitally: enter round points, see running totals and meld minimums, and rotate who deals.
